How to Use: Quick Guide 🚀

1. Starting Your Tree

2. Adding a New Person

At the top of the tree screen, click Add Person. A form will appear:

Unique ID: A short, unique identifier (e.g., "p10", "john1950"). Required.
Name and Surnames: Basic information.
Biological Gender: Male, Female, or Other.
Short Name: Nickname or first name, used in compact view.
Dates: Format "BirthYear-DeathYear" (e.g., "1950-2020" or "1990-" if alive). Required.
Place of Birth and Birthday (DD/MM): Optional, but useful.
Life Story and Health: Fields for notes.
Image URL: Link to an online photo (optional).
Generation: Generation number (e.g., 1 for the oldest, 2 for children...). Required.
Parents: Select the person's parents from the list (if already registered). Hold Ctrl/Cmd to select more than one.

Click Save Person to add to the tree.

3. Viewing and Interacting

Click on any person's card in the tree to open a window with their details.

In this window, you will see all registered information and have the following options:

Delete: Removes the person from the tree (asks for confirmation).
Edit: Opens the form to modify the person's data.
Focus: Centers the view on the selected person and their direct relatives (parents, children, siblings).

4. Navigation and Filters

Zoom and Scroll: Use the mouse scroll or pinch gestures (on touch) to zoom in/out of the tree. Click and drag to move the view.

Focus: After using the Focus function on a person, a Show All button will appear in the header. Click it to return to the full view.

Filter by Surname: At the top, you will see tags with the surnames present in the tree. Click on one or more tags to filter and show only families with those surnames. Click Clear Filter to remove the selection.

5. Birthday List

Click the Birthdays (or Show Birthdays) button in the header.

A section will appear listing the birthdays of people currently visible in the tree, with upcoming ones highlighted. Clicking a birthday person's name will focus on them in the tree.

Click Hide Birthdays to close the list.

6. Saving Your Tree

At any time, click Save Tree in the header.

This will download an .html file containing your entire family tree, including data, structure, and the application itself for future viewing and editing.

Important: This file is saved on your computer. You can open it directly in your browser to continue where you left off, even offline. Keep it in a safe place!

7. Privacy and Your Data

This application was designed with your privacy in mind:

No Online Logging: Your information and family tree data are not sent or stored on any online server. Everything happens locally in your browser.
Full Control: When you save your tree (Save Tree), you generate an HTML file that remains in your possession. You are the sole owner of your data.
Offline Editing: The saved HTML file contains the entire application. This means you can open it and continue editing your tree even without an internet connection.

Your family history is yours. We just provide the tool for you to build and preserve it securely.
